Building the Future of Indiana Farming
PIFF hosts events and programs that:
Create space for farmer-to-farmer learning
Mentorship Program: We match beginning farmers with more established farmers, and give them paid time to learn from each other.
Field Days: Learn the nuts and bolts of production AND on build a sense of farmer community.
New Farmer University: This program is part of Marbleseed's incredible work across the Midwest, and we're co-hosting to bring this program to Indiana.
Convene food and farming advocates to collaborate
Indiana Farmland Community of Practice: The Community of Practice gathers 40+ ag professionals including farmers, researchers, land trusts, public agencies, and educators. We meet monthly to discuss, and ultimately pursue, strategies to protect our farmland and support the current and next generation of farmers.
Update the narrative about who farms in Indiana - and what's possible for our food system
More Than Corn: PIFF is proud to sponsor the documentary series, More Than Corn, which shines a spotlight on the Hoosier farmers who dedicate their time and talent to growing healthy, delicious food for us to enjoy right here in Indiana. Through this partnership, our goal is to change the narrative on farming in Indiana.
Listen, and implement input from farmers and food system advocates
Focus Groups: As we launch PIFF, we’re taking time to listen to underheard farmers and food system advocates. We want to see if and how PIFF can try to serve these Hoosiers’ needs, and work alongside them for a stronger food system in Indiana.
